AGL optimises existing IT portfolio for performance, value and risk
ITFM is greenfield practice for AGL, which required a partner who could bring the tools, processes and managed services to help us grow and mature this capability. ClearCost demonstrated professionalism and experience dealing with a changing set of requirements from AGL and complicated financial structures. We are already seeing great results, not only commercially, but with improvements in service and business partnerships.

AGL successfully went live with a new ITFM practice to enable their strategic goal of optimising their existing IT portfolio for performance, value and risk. Their new practice is supported by ClearCost.
The project began with an endorsed business case and benefit goals to drive cost savings, transparency, and mature financial management practice down to each cost centre manager. The team worked through the design and infrastructure build phases to create a secure and scalable platform for the system. At the same time, a cost model was constructed based on user interviews and data inputs. This included the creation of a service catalogue based on AGL’s capability model showing the true value that IT is delivering to the business. The new service was then transitioned into production support with training and governance setup.
The project also built new processes to support the overall practice and boarded the system into a managed service provided by DLG, the parent company of ClearCost. This service supports the monthly cadence of reporting and engagement with cost centre owners. It also dives deeply into the data to uncover optimisation opportunities and ideas to support their savings goals.
The ITFM practice gives the ability for IT leadership within AGL to have business-focused conversations with the rest of AGL around demand, service design, quality and value.
The roadmap for ITFM at AGL includes the expansion of the service to other areas of AGL and maturing of reporting and self-service access to advanced analytics dashboards. This successful and important project has provided AGL with a critical platform to manage the value of their IT services at a time when their business is changing rapidly.
